Tool and Usage
Why this tool?
DarkJPEG can help people to hide sensitive data in places where internet censorship is enforced. The service takes additional measures to even hide the fact that it has data embedded in the output file.
How it works
DarkJPEG uses SHA3 key generation with AES256 encryption. The images to store the data are called containers. One can choose to use a random container, which will use a random picture of Wikipedia. It is also possible to create a random image or use one of your own.
We noticed during the review that the last updates to this tool on GitHub were in 2014. So the development seems to be stalled and no new features may be expected.
Usage and audience
DarkJPEG is commonly used for data hiding, privacy enhancement, or provide anonymity. Target users for this tool are general public.
